A luminous living ecosystem evolving inside a glass petri dish

Living ecosystem evolution game

Build life.
Shape evolution.
Learn from every collapse.

Seed a petri dish, steer genes and resources, and watch a real ecosystem answer back. Every organism carries a lineage. Every failure becomes evidence.

The experiment

Every decision changes what survives.

Petrie is not a terrarium you decorate. It is a system you disturb. Add food, alter a genome, introduce a predator or change the biome—and then live with the consequences.

  1. 01

    Seed the dish

Start a founder line, place nutrients and give the first organisms room to establish themselves.

  2. 02

    Shape the pressure

Change genes, cross strains and choose the environment that decides which traits matter.

  3. 03

    Read the outcome

Follow births, deaths, mutations and lineages. Stabilize the ecosystem—or use its collapse to design the next run.

A system that pushes back

Your ecosystem has its own agenda.

Organisms move, feed, fight, mate and die without waiting for permission. You can influence the conditions, but life decides what those conditions mean.

  • Resource pressureFood supply and metabolism decide whether growth becomes stability or starvation.
  • Predator dynamicsA dominant hunter can control a population—or erase the line it depends on.
  • Environmental hazardsAcid, climate and scarcity reward specialized organisms instead of universal winners.

Directed evolution

One founder. Dozens of viable futures.

Unlock a 92-node evolution tree, manipulate DNA and cross compatible organisms. Fast grazers, efficient herbivores, armored survivors and aggressive predators all emerge from the same living history.

Dr. Xanthia in the Petrie evolution laboratory Coach online

Dr. Xanthia observes with you

You never experiment alone.

Your coach stays close to the dish, notices repeating death patterns and turns raw simulation data into a clear next experiment. She does not play for you. She teaches you how to see.

“Multiple organisms are dying from predation. Test one targeted countermeasure.”
Pattern recognitionConnects deaths, hunger and hazards to likely causes.
Contextual guidanceResponds to the run you are actually playing.
Visible progressMarks discoveries, milestones and promising lineages.

A laboratory with memory

Every run leaves something behind.

Research points, discoveries, achievements and saved strains turn isolated experiments into a long-term laboratory story.

Before entering the lab

Questions before the first culture.

Petrie starts quickly, saves locally and explains its deeper systems while you play.

Start the experiment
What kind of game is Petrie?

Petrie is a single-player evolution sandbox and ecosystem strategy game. You influence a living simulation rather than directly controlling every organism.

Do I need an install or account?

No. Petrie runs directly in a modern desktop browser. There is no launcher and no account wall.

How is progress saved?

Your laboratory progress, unlocks and discoveries are stored locally in the browser. Petrie does not require a database to play.

What changes between experiments?

Biomes, climate, available food, predators, mutations and your own gene choices all change which lineages can survive.

The dish is ready

Your first organism is waiting.

Give it food. Give it pressure. Then see what life becomes.
